It’s mainly eye candy, but it’s still a really neat piece of work. eConspiracy collaborated with MESA (the Mac Entertainment Software Association) to develop an eight-minute video showcasing new Mac games available now and currently in development. It’s now available for viewing from Apple’s Web site. If you have the bandwidth and the time, it’s worth checking out.
The video was first shown to Macworld Expo patrons this past January in San Francisco, Calif. The video served as the backdrop at the Mac Gaming Theater, which occupied a corner of the expo show floor adjacent to where the game publishers and developers were sequestered. The Mac Gaming Theater gave Mac game publishers an opportunity to demonstrate their newest products to the crowds at the show.
The video itself features a high-energy electronic music soundtrack cut with footage culled from games in development and in circulation for the Mac. Titles include Myst III: Exile, Giants: Citizen Kabuto, Quake III Arena, Oni, Halo, Heavy Metal: FAKK 2, Neverwinter Nights, The Sims, and more.
Apple’s Web site also features a detailed interview with Brian Walls, eConspiracy creative director and designer of the Mac gaming video. Walls is a real renaissance man — a big Mac fan grounded in both the music and graphic design realms. Check Apple’s Web site for more info, or links to the Mac gaming video and its soundtrack. Both are in QuickTime format, of course.
