Glass Bead Software has released a new Mac LAN chat shareware application called SnapTalk.
The product lets you talk “instantly” with anyone in your office. A SnapTalk pop-up window notifies you of incoming talk requests. The app finds all the other users on your network and puts them in a list for you to choose from, and a SnapTalk pop-up window notifies you of incoming talk requests. You can also set SnapMail to speak incoming messages aloud. If you are busy or their message can be answered with a “Yes,” “No” or “Thanks.” Or you can snap them off an auto-reply with a single button-click.
SnapTalk provides instant Macintosh LAN chat, installs in less than a minute, and requires no administration or configuration, according to MacTech magazine.
The cost is US$25 for a five-user license, $39 for a 10-user license, and $99 for an unlimited user license. SnapTalk can be run on any Mac that has at least 600K of free RAM and is connected to any type of AppleTalk network, including LocalTalk, PhoneNet, EtherTalk, TokenTalk and Apple Remote Access. SnapTalk runs on all Mac OS Systems from 7.5 to OS X. You can download it at the Glass Bead Web site.
