As we reported March 9, Apple is slating promotional in-store events in the US on March 24-25 to coincide with the release of Mac OS X
However, Apple is also planning a whole series of in-store events in the UK. During the course of the weekend, all participating outlets will feature hands-on demonstrations and lots of Mac-related special offers. Many stores will also be offering refreshments as well as Mac OS X goodies like stickers and T-shirts.
However, the main event will be at the MicroAnvika store in Central London (6-17 Tottenham Court Road), starting 11p.m. on Friday, March 23. There’ll be free food and drink, live music, and more. The first 100 people through the door will get a free OS X T-shirt and the first 50 people to buy Mac OS X will get a free Apple Pro Mouse.
At 11.30 pm, Apple’s UK Software Business Manager, Stuart Harris, will give a detailed overview and demonstration of Mac OS X. At the stroke of midnight the next generation operating system will go on sale.
Meanwhile, back in the US, the Atlanta (GA) Macintosh Users Group is having a special event this weekend. On March 17, they’ll host a day-long event called Maclanta Xpo, featuring an in-depth look at Mac OS X for members, along with various classes, and a swap meet during the day, Publicity Director David Whitehead told MacCentral. Full details can be found at the user group’s Web site.
