Internet routing software maker Vicomsoft today released updates to its SurfDoubler and Internet Gateway software for the Macintosh. The new versions, both labeled 6.8.3, are ready for download from Vicomsoft’s Web site.
Internet Gateway and SurfDoubler both provide Mac users with a way to share a single Internet connection with others, regardless of whether it’s a dial-up connection, cable modem, DSL line, or other form of hard connection. Internet Gateway is scaled to office, enterprise and school networks while SurfDoubler is scaled towards home users.

The Auto-setup facility for both the Internet Gateway and SurfDoubler have been improved with this release to accommodate more unique types of configuration. In addition, the free trial versions of these Vicomsoft products are now equipped to handle more effectively a wider range of situations.

RapidCache now supports large hard drive partitions in excess of 30 Gigabytes. (Internet Gateway)
Both applications carry similar system requirements — a PowerPC-based Mac; System 7.6.1 – 9.x; Open Transport 1.1.1 or later; 6.5MB available RAM; 3MB available hard disk space.
