It’s just eight days until March 24: X Day, the day when Mac OS X goes on sale. If you’re planning to upgrade to the next generation operating system, you can stock up on new icons to replace the ones that ship with OS X, thanks to the folks at the Iconfactory, the source for quality freeware Mac icons.
In fact, March 26-30 is OS X Fest at the Iconfactory. In order to celebrate the release of the new operating system, they’ll be releasing a new OS X savvy icon set every day of the week. The Iconfactory folks won’t elaborate on what the icons will be like, but do tease that you shouldn’t “look for stock photos or cheesy 3D renders.”
Meanwhile, you can cruise on over to the Iconfactory Web site, check out, and download the work of the winners of the recent Pixelpalooza icon design contest. There are winning icons in the categories of 3D, Illustrative, System Replacement, and, yep, OS X.
