Day-Glo Color Corp. has introduced a consumer line of ink jet cartridges that Marketing Manager Michael Bush describes as “the most exciting advance in inkjet printing, since the inkjet printer.”
The cartridges work with most Canon, Epson and Hewlett-Packard desktop printers and most Encad and Epson wide format printers with inks that are enhanced by fluorescents for “bolder, brighter and better” color than conventional products. They even work with some Apple color printers.
The inks in the color cartridges are dye-based cyan, magenta and yellow with fluorescing chemicals added to improve the colors. DayGlo Inkjet Cartridges are the first to enhance conventional ink with fluorescent color, the company claims. No special modifications to your printer are needed if you switch to DayGlo inkjet cartridges.
“Our inks are intended for everyday print jobs, not just for special fluorescent projects or temporary installation,” said Michael Frothingham, Day-Glo manager, Ink Jet & E-commerce, in a company statement. “They enhance the color of all print jobs, whether designed for fluorescent or standard colors, including photographic images, charts and graphs, and desktop publishing projects like greeting cards.”
Additionally, Day-Glo is producing black inks designed to optimize the brightness of its color inks and make the blacks appear darker than standard inks. Ink yields from the cartridges are expected to be equivalent or better than standard products, according to Bush.
The cartridges are currently available for purchase on the Day-Glo Web site and will be available in the coming months in office and computer stores, mass merchandisers, catalogs, contract stationers, and wholesale distributors.
