SSEYO has introduced a Koan Dreamweaver Extension that the company says provides easy integration of interactive audio into Macromedia’s Web design application.
The free extension set provides a selection of objects and behaviors for Macromedia Dreamweaver that lets you incorporate interactive Koan audio content into your Web pages. Audio content can consist of passive elements like background music or ambient sound, or can involve interactive elements such as the playback of spot sound effects or musical riffs in response to any of the standard HTML event handlers, according to Tim Cole, founder and CEO of SSEYO. Koan is the company’s interactive audio software platform for music and games.
Additionally, the behavior set provides an easy way to gain control over the Koan audio engine’s programmable features, so that the music can change in realtime according to actions performed in the Web page, he added. Koan audio pieces can be embedded directly into a Web pages as tiny text “vectors,” typically less than two or three kilobytes for an entire piece of music.
“Internet audio is now on a diet, combating the lack of bandwidth that still largely hampers the use of sound design on the Web,” Cole said in a press announcement. “Our Koan Dreamweaver Extension Set is just 175 KB, comes complete with 100 free, ready-to-use audio clips, and should typically take less than two minutes to download. Add to that the ability to incorporate truly dynamic, interactive audio within a text element as small as 200 bytes, that sounds the same on Macs or PCs whatever the soundcard, and stunning low bandwidth audio capability is within the realm of any Web site.”
