If you’re the owner of a Titanium PowerBook G4 — or plan to be — Dr. Bott, a manufacturer and distributor of Mac peripherals, hopes to tempt you with their upcoming TiCase.
Due next month, the US$399 case has a brushed aluminum shell, two-inches of closed cell styrofoam, and a combination lock. It weights under 11.5 pounds — and that’s with the Titanium PowerBook inside — and measures 42cm x 34cm x 11cm. Cut-outs cover the power supply, power cable and accessories to protect the TiBook from accidental scratches.
“Steve Jobs touted the Titanium PowerBookG4 as the ultimate in power and sex,” said Eric Prentice, CEO of Dr. Bott. “We’re excited to offer a case that is specifically designed to protect the TiBook without compromising the style of the sexiest computer around.”
A detachable cover lets you use the TiBook while it’s in the case using a special “Lift-o-Matic” rear pads. Lift off the lid, press gently on the rear corners of the PowerBook, and your laptop lifts into working position. The “Lift-o-Matic” telescopic feet raise the rear of the TiBook so that the natural decline of your knees is properly balanced and the TiBook comes to a level rest in desk height. As a side effect Lift-o-Matic makes room for ample air circulation under the TiBook, according to of Dr. Bott. Plus, you can flip down the portable’s lid covering the ports and all are directly accessible, even while the Titanium PowerBook is in the TiCase.
“These cases may look sleek and satin-smooth, but they’re also tough and durable,” Prentice said. “This type of case was used in the James Bond movie, ‘The World Is Not Enough.'”
