The folks at MYOB have a new a data file conversion utility designed to help small businesses move their old QuickBooks Pro Version 4 Macintosh data files to MYOB’s small business accounting and management software, AccountEdge.
AccountEdge offers accounting with business, inventory and contact management capabilities. It tackles such duties as job tracking, sales management, time billing, inventory, and payroll. It includes invoice and check registers that make it easy to find open invoices, credits, quotes, payments, and other transactions quickly.
MYOB AccountEdge also inherits the signature features of other MYOB products, including inventory and payroll, multiple currency accounting and professional time billing. But it also adds some new tricks and has been redesigned to complement the Aqua interface of Mac OS X. See our hands-on review for more details.
QuickBooks from Intuit is an accounting package. QuickBooks Pro, while still available as version 4 in a standalone product, hasn’t been upgraded for the Mac platform since the late 1990s.
Now QuickBooks users who have been waiting the past five years for an upgrade, or who want to update to newer Mac operating systems, including OS X, have an award-winning accounting product and a simple, free conversion utility to help them make the move, according to Cynthia Mackewicz, General Manager, MYOB US.
The MYOB conversion assistant takes the user through five easy steps and will convert all of their critical business information from QuickBooks to AccountEdge “without missing a beat,” she added. The MYOB Conversion Assistant will convert Jobs, Inventory, Accounts and their balances, Customer, Vendor and Employee information, Company Information, Shipping Methods, Terms, Tax Codes, Open Invoices, and Open Purchases. The MYOB conversion assistant is available as a free download, on CD for a minimal charge, from the MYOB Web site. A QuickTime video demonstration of how the conversion assistant works is also on the MYOB Web site, along with additional info.
What’s more, MYOB is offering a US$100 mail-in rebate on the retail version of AccountEdge through the end of April. AccountEdge normally retails for $249. A free trial version of MYOB AccountEdge and information on its full feature list are available on the MYOB Web site.
“We make no secret that we’re out to attract QuickBooks users to MYOB AccountEdge,” Mackewicz said in a statement. “And it’s a pleasure to be able to welcome them with open arms to a quality product that, quite simply, is the best accounting system for the Macintosh. It’s also reassuring to the Mac community that AccountEdge is developed by a company that has maintained and strengthened its commitment to the platform. We’re here to stay.”
