Communications hardware maker Farallon has introduced another new driver update for its SkyLINE 11Mb Wireless PC Card and PCI card. The new version, 2.4, can be downloaded from Farallon’s Web site now.
Farallon’s SkyLINE 11Mb Wireless PC card and Wireless PCI card provide Macs with the ability to communicate on wireless networks that support IEEE 802.11b, the same protocol as Apple’s AirPort base station and cards. Unlike Apple’s AirPort offerings, though, the SkyLINE products have been developed to support older Mac hardware that don’t feature direct support for AirPort, like PCI-based Macs and older PowerBook G3s without an internal AirPort card connector.
Farallon reports that the new 2.4 SkyLINE driver version “improves stability, resolves issues with Mac OS 9.1, and adds support for the included firmware updater, allowing you to upgrade your card to 8.3 firmware.”
