In celebration of the official release of Apple’s new operating system, Mac OS X, the folks at the Iconfactory have announced a week of new, free and original icon sets.
The sets that will be released this week as part of their OS X Fest, feature the new, larger 128×128 pixel thumbnail icons. These larger icons are used in the new operating system’s windows, on the desktop, and in the Dock. The five icons sets span a wide range of interests and styles.
Also, in celebration of Mac OS X shipping, the Macintosh Guy Web site is transitioning its “Mac OS X Beta” discussion list into “Mac OS X for Users.” This e-mail discussion list will focus on “real people dealing with real issues” with the latest version of the Mac OS.
There’s also a Mac OS X Dreams List, which focuses on providing discussion around enhancements and feature requests for Mac OS X. This may include improvements to the OS itself, needed shareware, or improvements to existing software to take advantage of new features of Mac OS X. Everyone from end users to software developers are welcome, Prentice said.
