As first reported by Macworld Sweden and now confirmed by MacCentral, the Mac OS 9.1 disk that ships with Mac OS X won’t install on the Titanium PowerBook G4.
This reporter tried it on a Titanium PowerBook (500 MHz, 256 RAM) and got the following error message: “This program cannot run on your computer. See the documentation for more information.” Nils Holmlöv, editor-in-chief, MacWorld Sweden, inserted the OS 9.1 CD in his TiPB (400 MHz, 256 RAM) and got the same message.
Apple has confirmed the problem for MacCentral and says they’ll address the situation. We’ll keep you posted on details.
