Network security software maker Ashley Laurent has released its VPCom VPN (Virtual Private Network) client software for the Mac OS. It’s built on the VPCom 2.6 client already available for Windows, and adds Macs to the VPCom product line, which up until now has focused on Windows and embedded operating systems.
Ashley Laurent makes its software for integrated chip and customer premise equipment (CPE) manufacturers. Ashley Laurent’s software is used by broadband hardware makers and network security solutions providers. Ashley Laurent said that VPCom is the client of choice for IBM and other manufacturers. The software provides secure, IPSec-compliant remote access for Mac OS users.
Ashley Laurent also announced that it has partnered with LANsurveyor developer Neon Software Inc. to provide stand-alone VPN solutions to Mac OS and Windows enterprises.
Ashley Laurent’s newly announced VPCom VPN implementation for the Mac is compatible with Mac OS 8 and 9. The company did not indicate if or when Mac OS X will be supported.
