CPU upgrade maker PowerLogix has confirmed that its most popular G3 processor upgrades are compatible with Apple’s newly released Mac OS X.
PowerLogix indicated that its iForce G3 upgrades — which replace the stock processor in early iMac models — are fully compatible. Its BlueChip and BlueChip LS processor upgrades are also fully compatible with Mac OS X. No modification or software update is necessary to get Macs equipped with those upgrades working with Mac OS X, according to PowerLogix.
PowerLogix also has good news for users of its PowerForce G4 and G3 ZIF cards — although there’s a software update needed to get the cards working with OS X, it’s on the way. PowerLogix said to look for a new version of the G3/G4 Cache Profiler utility within two weeks, once compatibility testing has been completed.
“For those who were waiting for the release of Mac OS X before they considered investing in a compatible upgrade, the time is now,” said PowerLogix marketing director Robin Sharp-Howdershelt.
