Yesterday we reported that AppleWorks 6.1 Preview for Mac OS X, introduced on Saturday, had disappeared from Apple’s download site.
It has, though Apple promises an “updated version of the AppleWorks 6.1 preview Mac OS X” soon. However, it seems you can still download the original preview at another Web site. (Thanks to MacCentral reader Andrew Bloomgarden for alerting us to this URL.)
However, you should know that the first preview updater was removed to resolve a minor issue with the spreadsheet module. A new AppleWorks 6.1 updater will be made available when the issue has been resolved. Users who have already updated to AppleWorks 6.1 should refer to the following Knowledge Base articles: ” AppleWorks 6.1: May Quit Unexpectedly, Losing Unsaved Changes ” and ” AppleWorks 6.1: Spreadsheet File May Become Unusable.”
AppleWorks 6.1 Preview for Mac OS is actually a pre-release version that will expire on Sep. 1. The new version of Apple’s integrated word processing, spreadsheet, database, and page layout application is distributed as an update to AppleWorks 6.0.4, the latest full release version developed for use with Mac OS 9 and lower.
