Mac OS X ships with drivers that support various Hewlett-Packard DeskJet inkjet printers, and Hewlett-Packard itself released a Mac OS X driver package earlier this week for some of its popular recent-model LaserJet laser printers. The company has a substantial number of older printer models that are not supported by the currently available OS X drivers — MacCentral sought additional details about if and when those devices will be supported.
Hewlett-Packard spokesperson Jennifer Boggs indicated that addition support is coming. Boggs said that HP plans to roll out new OS X drivers for other Mac-compatible printers over the next few months. HP also plans Mac OS X driver support for its All-in-One combination devices, ScanJet scanners, DesignJet large-format printers, business inkjet printers, and PhotoSmart photo printers.
“By fall, all Mac-compatible Hewlett-Packard products should be supported,” said Boggs.
Hewlett-Packard’s Web site features a section focused on
support for OS X. Boggs said that the site is being updated presently — by next week, HP expects that the site will contain complete details about when additional drivers will be available for various Mac-compatible Hewlett-Packard products.
