The AppleWorks preview (version 6.1) was introduced on Saturday, then pulled from Apple’s download site Wednesday, supposedly due to an issue with the spreadsheet module. AppleWorks 6.1 Preview for Mac OS is actually a pre-release version that will expire on Sep. 1. The new version of Apple’s integrated word processing, spreadsheet, database, and page layout application is distributed as an update to AppleWorks 6.0.4, the latest full release version developed for use with Mac OS 9 and lower.
If you’re not an iTools user, hang in there. The update will probably appear soon on Apple’s Software Updates Web site. Apple’s iTools are a suite of tools to help consumers easily use the Internet. One of those tools is iDisk, an online storage option.
