As MacCentral first reported yesterday, Apple Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations Clent Richardson is leaving the company.
In Richardson’s new role, he’ll be the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of a U.K.-based cellular phone service with over 8 million subscribers. Richardson is leaving Apple to work for Deutsche Telekom subsidiary One2One.
MacCentral verified Richardson’s departure yesterday through industry sources, but was unable at the time to confirm Richardson’s status with Apple itself. Since then, MacCentral has received confirmation and a comment from Richardson on his departure.
“Apple and the worldwide developer relations team are stronger then ever, and I have no doubt that literally thousands of Mac OS X apps will be commercially released by our developers this year,” said Richardson. “I’m leaving a great company for a new opportunity as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of One2One in the UK, where I will take my substantial experience at Apple and apply it to the rapidly emerging world of wireless communications.”
