Aspyr Media says that its conversion of the LucasArts graphic adventure game Escape From Monkey Island is now in final candidate stage. Barring any unforseen problems, the company hopes to ship the new game within the next couple of weeks.
Escape from Monkey Island is the fourth installment in the Monkey Island series. Players take the role of intrepid hero Guybrush Threepwood as he once again squares off against the dread pirate LeChuck and his evil minions. Threepwood and his new wife Elaine return to Melee Island to discover that Elaine — the island’s governor — has been declared dead and a new (yet familiar) politician is poised to take over.
The game is rendered in 3D. Escape from Monkey Island sports hundreds of puzzles to solve, and features the twisted humor that makes all of the Monkey Island games something unique and special. Escape from Monkey Island has been converted to Mac OS by Jesse Spears and Phil Sulak of Westlake Interactive.
System requirements for Escape From Monkey Island call for a G3/233MHz or faster; 64MB RAM; 8x CD-ROM; 100MB of hard drive space; hardware 3D acceleration (ATI RAGE Pro or better, including 3dfx Voodoo 3), 4MB of VRAM or more; and OpenGL 1.2.1.
