Aladdin Systems Inc. today launched a new “Stuff the Internet” rebate program. The program is designed to target new users by offering them a US$25 mail-in rebate off the purchase price of StuffIt Deluxe 6.0 when purchased through Aladdin’s retail partners.
StuffIt Deluxe is a file compression solution that the company claims can compress files down to 95 percent of their original size, making the software useful for users that need to transmit files to each other over slow dialup connections. The StuffIt format is ubiquitous on the Macintosh platform, and variations on Aladdin’s StuffIt tools are included as part of Apple’s factory-standard software installation for all Macs.
StuffIt Deluxe 6.0 features functions like ReturnReceipt, which notifies users via e-mail when attachments they’ve sent are received and opened. The new version sports an improved interface, and has been redesigned from the ground up, according to Aladdin. The software also works with Mac OS X Public Beta.
StuffIt Deluxe carries a suggested retail price of US$79.99. System requirements for StuffIt Deluxe 6.0 call for a PowerPC-based Mac; Mac OS 8.1 or greater; 6MB available RAM; 15MB HD space.
Both the “Stuff the Internet” rebate and Aladdin’s StuffIt Deluxe $50 upgrade rebate programs run now through June 30, 2001. The mail-in rebate coupon is stickered directly on retail boxes; retailers and dealers can also download the coupon from
the Aladdin Web site.
