Canon U.S.A. Inc. announced Tuesday it has developed a new technology that will soon be part of medium to high volume Bubble Jet printers with improved speed and color quality.
The technology will be part of Canon’s new HyperPhoto Bubble Jet printer and can be used as a standalone unit or as part of the HyperPhoto Digital Express 3000, which is the new, faster way to convert and deliver photos.
The printer provides six-color light and dark ink for quick production of digital quality prints at 1200×1200 dots per inch (dpi). The printer is ultra-fast at 25 seconds for output of an 8×10-inch image and 12 seconds for a 4×6-inch image. Featuring all the benefits of a Bubble Jet printer, the new Canon model is chemical-free and low maintenance.
The printer will come with Macintosh printer drivers and is equipped with a 10baseT/100base connection. An optional FireWire card will be available.
With one paper roll, the printer can function as a tabletop compact unit that consumes little office space. It also can operate as a console standing unit, with two paper rolls that permit running two different size papers simultaneously.
Availability and pricing were not released.
The pre-production printer will be demonstrated, along with the HyperPhoto Digital Express 3000, at the Photo Marketing Association trade show beginning this Sunday in Orlando.
