Paperang, the “world’s best paper airplane,” was done on the Mac, the “favorite platform,” of its creator, Edmond Hui.
The Paperang is a high performance, easy-to-make, precision-engineered paper airplane, Hui, told MacCentral. It’s targeted to aviation enthusiasts of all ages; origami (the oriental art of paper folding) makers; educators and students of general science, physics, and aerodynamics; and “anyone who wants to make a better paper airplane.”
Origami techniques are employed in making the plane, according to Hui, a computer consultant. He began to think of a new design for the traditional “delta wing” form of the paper dart in the mid-70s. Using his knowledge of origami and interest in hang gliding, he created the Paperang. He said it will fly for about 30 feet or more if made correctly. That’s over twice the average distance of the conventional paper dart.
“Previously, Paperang was in a locked form, but it is now shareware,” Hui said.
The shareware price is US$10. You can download it, or a free trial version, at the Paperang download site.
