Radio/MSNBC personality Don Imus has been salivating over the new Titanium G4 PowerBook since the day of its announcement. In fact, he recently set up a challenge between two well-know New York City retailers to see which could deliver the computer first.
“He and his co-host Charles McCord described the new PowerBook as the sexiest piece of electronics on the market,” said Russ Harland. “On Monday, MSNBC viewers got to see the ‘I-man’ take delivery of his G4 PowerBook on the air — and saw that he couldn’t keep his hands or eyes off of it during the rest of the show. His one complaint: it was the 400 MHz model rather than the 500.”
Speaking of the new laptop and radio, KCRW, a public radio station in Santa Monica, CA, is giving away a Titanium PowerBook G4 as part of their daily subscriber giveaway. The DJs are going on and on about how great this computer is. There’s also a Web only giveaway for a subscriber who joins on the Web.
Moving on, Michael Ramirez, Pulitzer Prize winner for editorial cartooning (the “Los Angeles Time”), drew a cartoon on Jan. 28 concerning the “W” keys being taken out of the keyboards in the Whitehouse. The keyboard drawn is from a Mac.
(If you’ve sent us an item for our Famous People column, please be patient. It will appear, but we’ve been swamped with entries. If you know of a famous person using the Mac, send it to Yours Truly at dsellers@maccentral.com. If you want credit for your “Mac spotting,” be sure to include your full name.)
