Server Sentinel 2.0 sports new features

Intelli Innovations has upgraded its server monitoring utility, Server Sentinel for the Macintosh. The new version is 2.0, and it’s ready for download from Intelli Innovations’ Web site.

With Server Sentinel 2.0, Mac-based server administrators can automate the process of checking and maintaining that their servers are running. Server Sentinel checks the servers at specified intervals, and can be configured to run events such as e-mailing the administrator, run AppleScripts, open applications locally or over networks, or reset crashed computers, if a server check fails.

The new version of Server Sentinel features the following improvements, according to the developers:

New, rewritten task engine checks any kind of server for uptime

Check the contents of web sites for valid text strings

Create multiple failure and multiple notification events

HTTP and TCP/IP error databases allow users to find detailed error info

Built-in TCP Client program for testing purposes

Full screen viewing mode with “red light, green light” status indicators

HTML status report for remote checkups

Failure verification avoids false alarms

Server Sentinel is available for download as a free demo from Intelli Innovations’ Web site. The software costs US$30 to register.

Intell Innovations crafts a number of different utilities using REAL Software’s REALbasic programming environment. The company’s other products include Package Tracker, eMail Alert! and PowerPrompter.
