Aladdin Knowledge Systems, which specializes in the field of Internet content and software security, has announced that HASP4 USB for Mac OS X is ready, according to MacTech Magazine. As far as we can tell, however, pricing hasn’t yet been set.
Designed especially for Mac developers, HASP4 USB — which was demoed at last month’s Macworld San Francisco — protects Mac OS X applications, as well as applications for Win32 on PCs, according to Doug O’Connell, vice president of Software Security at Aladdin.
“Aladdin’s HASP for Mac OS X serves not only as a strong protection system for the Mac, but also as a versatile solution for vendors who deliver products in the increasingly popular multi-platform environment,” said O’Connell. “The combination of the platform-independent environment and support of Mac OS X, positions HASP for the Mac as a trusted software solution for software firms already protecting their software and those waiting on Mac OS X support.”
A single key can be used to protect applications for either Mac or Windows, providing users of both platforms with top security features within Aladdin’s “field-proven” HASP4, he added. Look for it after OS X’s release on March 24. HASP4 is designed to help software developers increase revenues by enforcing license agreements, and provides flexible sales models, via time-limited demos, concurrent or floating licenses, and remote updating of software modules.
“Aladdin’s HASP for Mac OS X serves not only as a strong protection system for the Mac, but also as a versatile solution for vendors who deliver products in the increasingly popular multi-platform environment,” said O’Connell.
HASP4 has several wizard-based utilities and step-by-step documentation. HASP4 also features on-chip encryption, an advanced Envelope Utility, and a remote updating system with full Win32 API integration.
