Pro skater and Hook-Ups owner/artist, Jeremy Klien, gave an interview with “Transworld Skateboarding Magazine” and when asked when the last time he felt totally confused, he said: “When I checked out a PC. PCs suck; I only use Macs.” (Thanks to Eric Cherry for this nugget.)
And that’s just the first of six Mac sightings we have for you today.
Jolene Oldham has seen a rash of Mac sightings lately: an iBook (in cartoon form) in a Bluefly.com magazine ad, an iBook in the Verizon Wireless “Guess who I’m sitting next to?” ad, and an iMac (again, in cartoon form) in a Hotwire.com ad.
newspaper about a local student who produced an Emmy winning show that was edited on Power Mac G4s (Thanks to Mike Kiesling for alerting us to this nugget.)
Brian Blank has seen quite a few ads of late from high profile companies that “covertly” use Mac graphics to showcase their Web sites, including Wal-Greens (its one-hour photo service), CNN/Folio.com, Telocity, and Texas Instruments.
“It’s always interesting to me when people rave about Windows, yet are in a state of denial when it comes to recognizing how prominent Mac graphics are on the Web and how disproportionately they are featured in advertising when companies really need to make their graphics appealing to potential customers,” Blank said.
(If you’ve sent us an item for our Famous People column, please be patient. It will appear, but we’ve been swamped with entries. If you know of a famous person using the Mac, send it to Yours Truly at
firstname.lastname@example.org. If you want credit for your “Mac spotting,” be sure to include your full name.)
