The new, Mac-ready SprintScan 120 produces high-quality output with an optical density up to 3.9 (4.2 Dmax) and a true optical resolution of 4000 dots per inch (dpi). In addition, the 120 is the only medium-format scanner to include both SCSI and FireWire connections.
The SprintScan 120 accepts 120 film formats, including 6×4.5 cm, 6×6 cm, 6×7 cm and 6×9 cm, and 35mm positive and negatives slides and filmstrips. In addition, the scanner provides automatic advancement of six-image, 35mm filmstrips and four-image 35mm slides for increased productivity and functionality.
The SprintScan 120 ships with Polaroid PolaColor Insight Pro software, which provides a simple user interface for basic and advanced scanning tasks. PolaColor Insight Pro automatically removes and eliminates surface flaws, such as dust and fingerprints, and features automatic image sizing and saving scan settings.
Additionally, the new scanner is available with the SilverFast Ai from Lasersoft and Photo Perfect Advanced from binuscan in a Polaroid SprintScan 120 Plus bundle. Polaroid created the bundle to provide both beginning and advanced professionals tools for optimizing scanning and color reproduction. Key features of SilverFast Ai include real-time image adjustments and IT8 calibration tool for creating positive film profiles, as well as support of ICC compliant workflow for total color management. Photo Perfect Advanced is user-friendly and offers one step scanning for negatives that are difficult to correct. Both SilverFast Ai and Photo Perfect Advanced are complementary to the PolaColor Insight Pro software and offer users a total software solution.
The 120 is currently available in the U.S. through authorized Polaroid dealers and catalogs. The retail price of the new 120 is US$2,795 and the 120 Plus is $3,250.
