St. Clair Software has released a new version of its screen saver and energy saving utility, Sleeper. The new version, 3.2.3b4, can be downloaded from the St. Clair Software Web site now.
Sleeper is offered as a more configurable and reliable alternative to Apple’s own Energy Saver control panel. The software is customizable, supports disk sleep on all hard drives (not just Apple’s), offers password protection, and coexists with Energy Saver if users desire to mix and match features.

The new version corrects a problem in the Sleeper Strip control strip module. An option has been added for backlight control for PowerBooks.
The latest official release version, 3.2.3, adds improved support for Apples Power Mac G4 and iMac systems, resolves compatibility with Mac OS 9, and adds support for Apple’s Studio and Cinema LCD displays.
Sleeper is distributed as US$25 shareware. An unregistered version of Sleeper can be downloaded from St. Clair Software’s Web site.
System requirements for Sleeper 3.2.3b4 call for any Mac running System 7 or higher, including Mac OS 9.1; its screen saver features require a color-capable Mac; its Energy Star support requires an Energy Star-compliant Mac and monitor.
