FireWire Depot is warning of “a non-destructive virus” included with its 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch FireWire/USB enclosures and is recommending owners eradicate it using an old version of Disinfectant.
FireWire Depot president Jeff Chasick said the virus, known as MBDF-A, has been found in the USB drivers of both enclosures. “We recommend that you download (Disinfectant 3.7.1) to eradicate it from your system,” the company said. “We have notified the manufacturer and the developer of the software and will receive replacement CDs.”
The new, virus-free drivers are also available through the company’s Web site.
