Game publisher Gathering of Developers and developer Terminal Reality Inc. recently announced the development of a new game expected later this year: 4×4 Evo 2. The announcement indicates that the game is coming to PC and Xbox later this year, and the developer says that Mac users will see it as well.
In 4×4 Evo, you hop behind the wheel of one of various “real world” light trucks and SUVs from leading manufacturers like Toyota, Nissan, Dodge, Ford and GM, as you participate in off-road races on a variety of tracks in a variety of different terrains. The game sports both computer-controlled opponents and online multiplay that works between Mac, PC and Dreamcast users.
4×4 Evo 2 stands to offer more of the same great gameplay as the original with some new twists and turns, according to Terminal Reality president Mark Randel.
“Just like the original game, 4×4 Evo 2 will feature a realistic physics engine and cutting edge graphics. In addition, new, licensed vehicles, exciting single player missions and tracks will add even more replayability to the game and solidify 4×4 Evo 2 as the ultimate off-road racing sim,” said Randel.
The game will feature one of 70 different vehicles from 10 different manufacturers. Players will have the option of joining a factory race team or 4×4 club, where they can explore new terrain populated by animals, traffic, and other dynamic, moving objects.
The initial press release says that the new game is expected for Microsoft’s Xbox game console and the PC this November, but mentions nothing about the Mac. To find out more, MacCentral consulted with company spokesperson Andrew Haworth.
“Would we dream of leaving you in the cold? There’s definitely a Mac version planned,” said Haworth.
