Japanese manufacturer MadsonLine has unveiled a new line of travel accessories developed with Apple’s PowerBook G4 in mind.
New products include the G4 Micro-Adapter, a credit-card sized power adapter with a right-angled power plug that weighs five ounces. The unit automatically switches between 240 volts and 100 volts AC, making it suitable for international use, with suitable power plug adapters. It includes 18-inch and 6-foot power cords.
If you’ve already invested in MadsonLine’s G3 Micro-Adapter and you don’t want to buy a new one, the company has also developed the G3 to G4 “Generation Gap” adapter converter to enable the G3 Micro-Adapter to work with the PowerBook G4 as well.
MadsonLine has also introduced the G4 Auto/Air Travel Adapter, which enables the PowerBook to draw current and recharge its batteries using either a cigarette lighter adapter in an automobile or the EmPower socket available on some commercial airlines. The unit features a right-angled power plug and circuitry to provide protection from short circuit, surge and heat. The cigarette lighter plug features a special sliding casing that prevents accidental disconnection.
Lastly, MadsonLine has developed the G4 Saver, the PowerBook G4 alternative to the company’s iBook Saver. It’s a 1/4-inch thick neoprene sleeve designed to protect the PowerBook G4’s titanium casing from errant scratches or blemishes. The G4 Saver incorporates nylon handles for easy portability. The G4 Saver will be available for US$68.
Pricing and availability on the other new MadsonLine products are expected to be announced in March. For more information, visit MadsonLine’s Web site.
