(IDC) reported Thursday Apple’s market share in Japan fell two percent last year from 1999.
Apple fell to tenth place with a 3.9 percent market share in 2000 from 5.9 percent in 1999. Apple had the largest drop of all PC makers in the top ten. NEC continued to lead the field with a 21.7 share, down .5 from 1999. Fujitsu placed second, followed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba.
IDC Japan predicted Japan’s domestic PC shipments would rise 17.2 percent this year to 16.56 million units, slowing from last year’s 30.4 percent growth.
