Qualcomm, Inc. has released a public beta version of Eudora 5.1, the latest in-development version of its popular e-mail client software for the Mac OS. Adventurous users can download the new version from Qualcomm’s Web site — please note that the beta will expire on April 1.
Dozens of changes, improvements and bug fixes have been incorporated in the new version — there are far too many to list here. For a complete list of changes, please read the 5.1b1 release notes.
Minimum system requirements for Eudora 5.1 include a PowerPC-based Mac; Mac OS 8.1 or higher; an Internet e-mail account which utilizes the POP3 or IMAP protocol; and access to the Internet using TCP/IP. The Eudora 5.1 beta install can be installed over any existing copy of Eudora — please read the Read Me file for details.
Qualcomm notes that the new version is able to be downloaded by users from the following countries: United States, Canada, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom.
