Fan Software has announced an update to Insecticide, its Macintosh anti-virus utility. The new version, 1.0.1, is available for download from Fan Software’s Web site.
Insecticide sports features like background protection, heuristic virus detection, macro virus support, and more. The software features Mac OS 9.1 compatibility, and Fan Software has promised Mac OS X support as well.
Version 1.0.1 incorporates the following changes:
Fixed bug causing the Insecticide scanner to loop endlessly
Fixed bug causing the Insecticide Extension to be crossed even though it was properly loaded
Fixed bug causing Insecticide to incorrectly report that the background protection was not enabled when it was
Fixed crash caused by Norton Utilities when Insecticide scanned it
A few interface tweaks
System requirements call for a PowerPC-based Mac with 12MB of RAM or more. The software is distributed as shareware; its registration fee is US$25.
