Vicomsoft has released new versions of its Internet sharing software products, Internet Gateway and SurfDoubler. The new version, 6.8.2, can be downloaded now from links on Vicomsoft’s Web site.
Internet Gateway and SurfDoubler are software routers. Both software packages enable Mac users to share their single Internet connections with other users on the same local area network (LAN). Internet Gateway is designed to provide businesses and organizations of various sizes with secure Internet sharing capabilities, while SurfDoubler is scaled more for personal use.
The new 6.8.2 versions of SurfDoubler and Internet Gateway enable Internet sharing to work with the latest ADSL connection types now being rolled out in the UK and Europe.
“Until now ADSL connections provided using USB modems did not permit users to upgrade their connection type and continue sharing Internet access across their network with a software router solution,” said Vicomsoft. “Version 6.8.2 of the Vicomsoft Internet Gateway and SurfDoubler solutions allow business and home users respectively to take full advantage of the high speed connection that ADSL offers, and keep all of the security, management and control functions the software provides.”
Other new features include:
Users of 6.7 or 6.8 versions of either package can upgrade for free. Other users can upgrade for a fee.
