PowerLogix R&D Inc. announced Tuesday price reductions on its line of PowerForce G3 and G4 upgrades as well as the RapidFire FireWire interface card.
The PowerForce G3 350/175/512KB is now priced at US$179, and the 500/250/1MB is now $399. The PowerForce G3 cards can be used to upgrade the 7300, 7500, 7600, 8500, 8600, 9500, and 9600 models from Apple as well as Power Computing clones and the S900 and J700 from Umax.
The PowerForce G4 450/225/1MB is now priced at $499. The PowerForce G4 is compatible with the standard set of Apple PowerMacs from the 7300 to the 9600; Power Computing PowerBase, PowerWave and PowerTower Pro; UMAX S900 and J700. Power Computing Catalyst-based computers (PowerTower, PowerCenter, PowerCenter Pro) are not compatible with the G4 processor chip.
The PowerForce G3 ZIF 500/250/1MB is now $399, and the PowerForce G4 ZIF 450/225/1MB is now $499. The PowerForce G3 and G4 ZIF upgrades are 100 percent compatible with all PowerMac G3s, including desktops, minitowers, the Blue and White G3, All-in-One educational model, as well as the PowerLogix ZForce ZIF Adapter.
The RapidFire card is now $139. The RapidFire card includes three FireWire ports and two USB ports.
The PowerLogix RapidFire board is compatible with all PowerMacs with PCI slots, including the Apple 4400, 5400, 6400, Performa 6500, Performa 6360/160, 7200, 7300, 7500, 7600, 8500, 8600, 9500, and 9600. It will also work in Blue and White and PowerMac G4s for users that need additional FireWire or USB ports. The PowerMac clones from Umax and all models from PowerComputing except the Power 100 and 200 are also compatible with this new product. A minimum of System 8.6 is required.
