There’s a new Mac port of a music app that “slows down” solos so you can more easily decipher them. The first Mac program from developer Rolf Nilsson, “Amazing Slowdown” is US$40 shareware.
It recognizes AIFF and .wav files. You can import such files or insert a CD and select a portion (solo) and slow it down “directly.” Amazing Slowdown slows down the speed of the music, between 50 percent and 400 percent, without changing the pitch. You can use it to change pitch in semi-tones, at full or lower speed. You can also adjust the pitch in cents. Amazing Slowdown offers real time processing for all of these procedures.
System requirements are a Power Mac running Mac OS 8 or higher. For more info, or to download a trial version, go to Nilsson’s Web site. (Thanks to MacCentral reader Michael Theochares for tipping us off to this product.)
