Skytag Software has released a new update to its popular (some say indispensable) file utility for the Macintosh, File Buddy. The new version, 6.0.1, is ready for download from Skytag’s Web site.
File Buddy provides Mac users with the ability to perform a huge array of file management functions, from viewing and changing file and folder information to finding using extensive search criteria. You can modify the names of multiple files at once, create custom icons, aliases, and other features. An included contextual menu module also gains you added file management capabilities from the Finder and other applications.
File Buddy 6.0.1 provides a fix for the info and icon viewer windows, which were not displaying 32-bit custom folder icons correctly. The new update also fixes a problem that prevented File Buddy from being opened with versions of Mac OS prior to 9.
System requirements for File Buddy 6 call for a PowerPC-based Mac running System 7.6 or later. The software is distributed electronically and carries a US$39.95 registration fee. Reduced prices for upgrades from previously registered versions and multiple copies are also available.
