It’s been a year since PC audio card and peripheral maker Creative Labs announced that it would be supporting our platform of choice with a Mac version of its popular SoundBlaster Live! audio card. Now, the company is on the cusp of delivering the card, and will feature it at next week’s Macworld Expo in San Francisco.
Creative recently updated its Web site with a special promo page dedicated to the new SoundBlaster Live! for Macintosh, a PCI expansion card which features digital surround sound capabilities. Such features are largely taken for granted by most avid PC gamers and audiophiles, but true multi-channel surround sound is a feature that’s been sorely lacking from the Macintosh.
Creative plans to show off the SoundBlaster Live! for Macintosh and will feature several other products, as well, including their Nomad II MP3 portable audio file player and their Video Blaster WebCam Go, a combo digital camera/WebCam. The company reports that they will be offering a special pre-order price for the SoundBlaster Live! for Macintosh to Macworld Expo attendees.
Creative is also featuring a giveaway of a SoundBlaster Live! card for Macintosh on its Web site. The contest is open to all U.S. and Canadian residents ages 18 and up. Please visit the promo page at the link above for more details.
Macworld Conference & Expo takes place from January 9-12, 2001 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco, Calif. Creative will be on-hand to demonstrate their products at booth 2339.
