Orange Micro Inc. announced Friday its new OrangeUSB 2.0 Hi-Speed CardBus PC Card, which provides Cardbus-compatible laptop computers with four USB 2.0 ports for under US$100.
With a data transfer rate of up to 480 mbits per second, the card is backward compatible with all USB 1.1 peripherals. The card is capable of supporting up to 127 USB devices to a single PC or Macintosh notebook and is Plug & Play and USB 2.0 compliant.
“Users will be able to invest in our new Hi-Speed interface cards, connect all their current USB devices, and be ready for the ultra fast USB 2.0 products when they hit the market,” said Art Scotten, founder and CEO of Orange Micro.
The card adds to the company’s other three USB 2.0 Hi-Speed products — the OrangeLink+ FireWire/USB 2.0 card, the four-port OrangeUSB PCI card, and the OrangeUSB Hub with four ports.
The USB 2.0 Hi-Speed Cardbus PC Card will ship in late March, the company said.
