Although Blizzard Entertainment’s action/role-playing game Diablo II has been making the rounds both on Macs and PCs since last summer, Mac gamers who have wanted to try the game before they put their money down have been sadly out of luck. Blizzard has made amends by releasing a playable Mac demo version of the game. The Mac demo follows the PC demo’s release by a week.
Diablo II brings players to a medieval fantasy realm populated by demons, monsters, and all manners of creatures malevolent, bent on bringing a new age of darkness across the land. Players can choose from one of several different classes of characters ranging from Amazon warriors, Paladins and Barbarians to magic-using Necromancers and Sorcereresses.
The game features a 3D isometric perspective with support for 3D graphics acceleration, as well. Diablo II also features Internet-compatible multiplayer support.
System requirements call for Mac OS 8.1 or later, a G3 or better-equipped Power Macintosh, 64MB of physical RAM (with Virtual Memory on). Users on slower Internet connections will be in for a wait — the demo clocks in at just over 123MB.
Macgamefiles.com indicates that it’s the exclusive host of the Diablo II demo. A link to Macgamefiles.com’s Diablo II demo page is provided below.
