Today at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, Power On Software is announcing Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4.0 for Mac OS X at Macworld Expo interface design improvements, while becoming even faster and easier to use.
Version 4.0 of Now Up-to-Date & Contact will sport a new look and feel incorporating Mac OS X appearance enhancements and support for Appearance Manager. There’s a redesigned toolbar with three dimensional icons and auto-highlighting. A new e-mail integration feature let users of leading e-mail applications turn e-mail into notes, phone calls, appointments, and to-do items.
New networkable keywords allow sharing of keyword information with other Now Contact users so groups can more easily organize and classify contacts. Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4.0 sports the ability to change window appearance and select custom background patterns. There’s an implementation of Apple color picker to provide greater customization of category and event colors.
Improved AppleScript dictionary improves integration with other applications, said Leeds. There is support for Navigation Services and a new HTML-based help system. Completely new networking code is now Open Transport native, providing greater speed and DNS support for locating servers; support for NAT and firewalls, and Mac OS X. Leeds said. Other new features of Now Up-to-Date & Contact 4.0 include:
Revised word processor and template generator for faxes, envelopes, labels, and paper calendar formats.
“When we acquired Now Up-to-Date and Contact from Qualcomm Incorporated, we set out a very specific development path that included updating the software and adding support for handheld computers,” said Robert Leeds, Power On Software’s VP of Business Development. “Having successfully executed that plan, we turned our attention towards creating a new version that supports Apple’s next-generation operating system, Mac OS X, and offers an array of features that no other product in this category can touch.”
The new version, which has a suggested retail price of US $99.95, is expected to be available shortly after Apple’s release of Mac OS X. Electronic upgrades will be available directly from Power On Software for $39.95.
Power On is also showing its latest update to Rewind, version 1.0.3, at Macworld Expo. See our Dec. 27 story for details on the update. The product is being offered at a special low show price exclusively at the Power On booth (#907).
Finally, Power On is promising a presentation that is says will contain elements of psychology, physiology, and hypnosis” accompanied by amazing feats of psycho kinetics and the exploration of the innermost recesses of the human mind.” Leeds said that several times a day, a lucky visitor to Booth #907 will have the opportunity to engage in a battle to wrest $5,000 from the control of the ultimate Infotainer, Joel Bauer. Bauer has appeared on The Tonight Show, CNBC’s Power Lunch, Inside Edition, and Talk Soup, to name just a few of his myriad appearances.
“In addition to watching the amazing Bauer, attendees can also receive a free gift that is certain to challenge their intuition and enhance their insight,” Leeds said.
We’ll check it out, of course, and give you the details later this week.
