AEC Software plans to develop a Carbon version of its premiere product, FastTrack Schedule that will ship after the public release of Apple’s much-awaited Mac OS X.
AEC has been developing software for the Mac for over 10 years and plans on continuing to do so, said Dennis Bilowus, president and CEO AEC Software.
“We will continue to support the Macintosh platform in the future,” he said. “And it is becoming quite clear that the future of Macintosh is Mac OS X. We eagerly anticipate a version of FastTrack Schedule that embraces Apple’s vision.”
The latest version, 7.0, lets users plan their projects with greater control and precision, while offering even more customization options and time-saving automation tools. Project details in FastTrack Schedule 7.0 may be viewed as resource graphs or traditional calendars with three separate displays — The Schedule, Resource and Calendar Views. Custom Ranges and a QuickRange Palette help you determine what span of time is shown onscreen at any time. Palettes can be moved, hidden, or docked for workspace personalization.
Version 7.0 also adds resource tracking so you can set custom work calendars for each person or piece of equipment, allocate them to specific tasks, and display the information within a bar graph. Fifteen new fields and columns track more project details, and users may enter specific start and finish times for each activity with the ExpressTime Pop-Up Clock.
A new Critical Path identification feature highlights the trail of tasks with the least flexibility for change. FastTrack Schedule 7.0 also includes a Project 2000 Exchange Wizard, Dynamic Range Filters, QuickLook Balloons, Web Help, Unicode Character Support, and Smart Cursors, as well as numerous enhancements to existing features.
FastTrack Schedule 7.0 is available for an estimated street price of US$299 for Mac OS 8.6 or higher. Registered users of FastTrack Schedule 6.0x can upgrade for $99 through Oct. 31, 2000, or $129 after Nov. 1, 2000. Registered users of FastTrack Schedule 5.0x or earlier can upgrade for $149. FastTrack Schedule is also available in five-user, 10-user and 25-user network server versions. A fully functional trial version of FastTrack Schedule 7.0 is available online at the AEC Software Web site.
