This week MindVision Software, which has been providing Mac OS X installation solutions since May, has released Installer VISE 7.1 at this week’s Macworld Expo in San Francisco. The release makes it even easier to build install targets to both Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X, according to MindVision CTO Steve Kiene.
VISE 7.1 can build both Classic installers (the kind that users and developers are accustomed to) and a Carbon installer that run natively on Mac OS X. The update makes conversion to Carbon installers easier and offers one installer executable for System 7 through Mac OS X. It offers behind-the-scenes installs, a data file option available for PowerPC and Carbon formats, detection of user’s access privileges, support for Mac OS X large icons, the ability to run custom code according to the operating assistance, and integrated e-commerce support.
“MindVision has always provided developers with rock-solid installation solutions ahead of the competition,” he said in a press release. “With this new release of Installer VISE we have incorporated seven months of feedback from Mac OS X developers and users to provide a polished, mature solution for building Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X installers.”
