This week at Macworld San Francisco, Proteron released N2MP3 Professional, which Mat Caughron of Proteron said is the first of its kind MP3 creation solution for musicians, high-end audiophiles and anyone else interested in state-of-the-art MP3 encoding.
N2MP3, released on Sept. 6, is an MP3 encoder that offers real-time recording into MP3. It also has support for CDDB2 from Gracenote and uncompressed AIFF and WAV files.
N2MP3 Professional has been designed from the ground up to combine the highest standards of MP3 encoding with unparalleled ease of use, according to Caughron. It features a suite of audio codecs, including: the Fraunhofer’s industry standard encoder; the open-source LAME encoder; Proteron’s proprietary MPegger engine (optimized for Apple’s G4); and, for the first time on the Mac, Ogg Vorbis.
“Proteron has been behind-the-scenes in the Mac software industry for more than a decade,” Caughron told MacCentral. “There’s no doubt that you will be hearing more about Proteron this year and we look forward to bringing the Mac community the kind of exciting news that can only come from a boutique software development shop such as ours.”
