Roxen Internet Software announced Roxen Platform 2.1 Beta for Mac OS X Public Beta at Macworld Expo San Francisco this week. Roxen says this preview version of Roxen Platform is the first, and currently only, web content content management system available on OS X.
The enterprise-level server and suite of tools were created to facilitate the collaborative building and management of content on dynamic web sites, and supports the distributed authorship of content through a 100% web browser based interface. Roxen Platform is based on all relevant open Internet standards such as SSL, LDAP, SQL, Java, Perl, PHP, CGI, WML and Unicode, and includes a number of sophisticated options for dynamic graphics serving.
“The long line of innovations in Roxen Platform will change how web sites are built and maintained. Time-to-market will be shortened, design flexibility will be achieved and web site visitors will experience much more visually appealing and dynamic web sites,” said Lars H’gberg, CEO of Roxen Internet Software. “The powerful server-side image processing capabilities will change the way you think about serving web content.”
Roxen Platform is not only capable of personalizing text information on the fly, but can also create graphics at run-time that are based on a visitor’s access privileges and profile. Custom content can be tailored to be browser-specific as well, so that visitors who access a site served with Roxen Platform on anything from web-enabled cel phones to standard computer web browsers can be accomodated.
Image manipulation options include resizing, antialiasing, the application of layer effects, and output format optimizations among others, all of which are built into the template logic of the web site. Roxen Platform can handle any image format, including layered Photoshop files, and is able to convert to and from different file types. Designers simply need to create master graphics files, and Roxen Platform will automatically transform the images into the required page elements.
Roxen Platform’s application launcher technology also allows seamless integration with any web builder’s favorite content creation tools, and features a strong collaborative web site building environment that includes templates, workflow, access control, work areas and versioning as well as multiple levels of undo.
The release version of Roxen Platform 2.1 will be available when Apple releases the final version of Mac OS X, but a sneak peak of the product is being shown at Macworld Expo San Francisco this week. Roxen Platform is also available for Sun Solaris, Windows 2000, Linux and virtually any other major UNIX.
