MediaSchool has introduced “Tools for Teachers,” an online virtual seminar series for educators.
Courses, which will be offered for as low as US$5, will cover topics such as Mac OS 9, OS X, AppleWorks 6, iMovie 2, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere 6, Adobe GoLive, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Entourage, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, compressing video for the Web, and eJournalism.
“We want to educate teachers so they will be able to bring us into their classrooms,” Martha Cameron of MediaSchool told MacCentral. “We’ll also be offering supplemental materials for little or no cost.”
MediaSchool, built using WebObjects, provides both individual virtual seminars and complete university certification in Web design, video production, music composition, and New Media authoring. There are a variety of other Mac-related courses available to non-educators, as well. In fact, the school’s coursework is in beta testing for approximately another month. During this time, you can sample the courses for free. Once the e-commerce model kicks in, classes will probably cost $10 to $40.
What’s more, university certified courses will begin soon. For example, MediaSchool will be producing virtual classes for the School of Journalism & Mass Communications in Athens, GA. MediaSchool is the first eLearning environment that offers full university certification. MediaSchool’s educational partner is the University of Georgia.
R/com, MediaSchool’s parent company, is working with the University of Georgia to develop proper training standards and practices. The company is also working with key manufacturers and companies including Apple, Avid, Radius, and NAMM to further the training process, both on disc and online.
R/com Network develops eLearning environments for a wide range of applications. The company has developed an interactive training environment, called Digital Campus. This Web-driven application delivers on-demand, online training and education for a variety of solutions. R/com has completed the first two campus environments, MediaSchool and NAMM University Online.
