4D Inc., publishers of the 4th Dimension RAD/RDBMS Environment and WebSTAR Server Suite 4.3, demonstrated 4th Dimension 6.7 running on Mac OS X last week at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco. 4D 6.7 is a Web application development environment.
“We are committed to making the transition to Mac OS X as easy as possible for 4D users,” said Brandan Coveney, 4D president, in a press announcement. “Our goal is for current 4D users to be able to seamlessly port applications from earlier versions to Mac OS X without needing to write or changing a single line of code. We take great pride in the fact that 4D has always supported backward compatibility between versions and operating systems and we are committed to providing nothing less on the Mac OS X.”
What’s more, WebSTAR Server Suite 4.4 Beta is now available for download. It features 4th Dimension relational database integration, support for Tomcat’s JSP and Java Servlet services, customizable Web interface for WebSTAR Mail and built-in FlexMail support for a customized web-mail interface.
WebSTAR 4.4 will offer users integration between WebSTAR Server Suite and 4th Dimension relational databases. Several improvements to the core WebSTAR Server are also included to improve overall performance and reliability, said Coveney.
