With all the Macworld San Francisco related announcements, some changes at iTools have gone largely unnoticed.
iTools are Apple’s Internet services that take advantage of Apple’s ability to tightly integrate Internet services with the Mac OS. Apple’s iTools include: HomePage, which offers Mac users a way to easily make a homepage and store it on Apple’s servers; iDisk, an online storage option; Mac.com, a free email service featuring an exclusive address on the Internet; and KidSafe, a way of protecting children on the Internet.
The iTools for Education area now incorporates EdView, a tool for locating “teacher-approved, student-friendly” sites on the Web. EdView has a record of over 100,000 Web sites, spotlights a site of the day, looks at “This Day in History,” and links to holiday sites. EdView is also incorporated into the KidSafe area of iTools.
