Five days after the end of Macworld Expo in San Francisco, Minolta launched a trio of digital color copier/printers.
Capable of respective copy speeds of 20- and 15-pages-per-minute (ppm), the DiALTA CF2001 and CF1501 feature 600-dpi output (with 256 levels of grayscale per pixel) and the ability to produce full-bleed 11 x 17-inch originals on 12 x 18-inch paper stocks.
The printers also have Screen LIMOS III technology, which produces clear text, sharp edges and consistent color, Minolta said. Both systems also employ Minolta’s “tandem technology” print engines, which apply all four colors in one pass for improved color registration and speed.
To further improve color consistency both systems feature five different exposure modes for documents consisting of text, text and photos, photo-prints, printed photos mode and maps, and the ability to output seven different color versions of an image on a single test print before final output.
Adding the optional EFI print controllers allows the CF2001 and CF1501 to operate as network printers. Featuring color management and Web-based job controls, the Fiery Z4 server and the embedded Fiery X3e will be options for the CF2001, while the CF1501 will only be compatible with the Fiery X3e.
Adding the Fiery controllers allows both printers to be used as network color scanners. Placing documents on the glass or feeding them through the document feeder and pressing the scan button sends image files directly to the Fiery’s hard disk drive. Images can be retrieved from any networked computer using EFI’s Fiery WebTools. In the future the printers will also be able send scanned images as e-mail attachments.
Other options for the DiALTA CF2001 and CF1501 include a duplexing unit (for double-sided printing), 500-page document feeder, duplexing document feeder 2,500-sheet paper cassette, two-position stapler and three-hole puncher, corner stapler, and a 10-mailbin finisher unit.
Both the CF2001 and CF1501 are available now from authorized Minolta dealers for suggested retail prices of $17,495 and $13,995 respectively. Pricing has not been set on the EFI controllers, which are expected to ship later this quarter.
Today Minolta also announced the availability of the DiALTA CF9001, a 600-dpi, 8ppm digital color copier that includes Screen LIMOS III, Fine Edge Enhancement text-sharpening, the ability to image 256 levels of grayscale per pixel, and compatibility with 110-lb index paper stocks.
Retaining many of the popular features in the CF series of devices, including 11 x 17-inch full-bleed printing on 12 x 18-inch media and reduction/magnification range of 25 to 600 percent, the CF9001 is also compatible with the Fiery Z4 server and embedded Fiery X3e controller.
Options for the CF9001 include a 10-bin sorter, 10-bin staple sorter, automatic document feeder, 1,000-sheet paper cassette, and a duplex unit. The DiALTA CF9001 is available now from authorized Minolta dealers for a suggested retail price of $18,600.
